History of umi Hotels

umi Hotels was established by Steve Lowy, an alumnus of Salford Business School with the explicit aims of providing luxury hotel accommodation at budget hotel prices.

umi's first hotel was previously known as The Westminster Hotel, this was changed to umi Bayswater, umi Hotel and eventually umi Hotel London as the umi brand expanded to incorporate a Brighton seafront hotel previously known as The Belgrave Hotel, which would become umi Hotel Brighton. At the end of 2009 umi expanded to incorporate a Central Moscow hotel known as Petrovka Loft.

Best Budget Hotels

umi's London Hotel was voted by The Telegraph as one of The Top 50 Budget Hotels in The World[1].

Beyond Hotel Franchising

In 2010 umi incorporated Petrovka Loft Hotel Moscow which would serve as umi's first franchised hotel that followed the same brand ideals and marketing method as the other umi hotels. umi Hotels then set about creating a new bespoke booking engine called BookitWith.com allowing umi to increase the offering and value for potential franchisees[2].

Bookitwith.com also allows umi to supply hotel booking software to other hotel groups and individual hotel costs, with umi's Founder Steve Lowy stating the benefit being that this software has been "developed by hoteliers for hoteliers, rather than by travel agents".[3].
